The process involves creating the image on a sheet of transparent paper using a liquid platinum-based solution which gives the photograph its distinctive tonal quality and metallic depth.

After which 24K gold leaf is carefully applied to the back of the piece allowing light to pass through the platinum image and reflect off the gold from behind, creating a luminous, layered effect.
